Germany 8: What can I say? Another day of castles and a hike with waterfalls

Yesterday was a full day.  First, we visited the courtyard of Lichtenstein Castle, a tiny place that is built on a cliff side.  We opted to skip the inside tour, as I tend to find those boring.

Next, we drove to Hohenneuffen Castle, which was large, though less to look at than other castles we have been to.  We had lentils and pasta for lunch in the courtyard.

When I originally came up with a route through Germany, last year(then we delayed the trip til this year), there was a recommended waterfall hike that happened to fall between the two castles we visited for the day.  So, after the second castle, we left for the outskirts of the town of Bad Urach.  We spent a little over 3 hours hiking around to see the two main waterfalls.

The signposting for the hikes were really bad.  At the car park, they labeled 6 different hikes by number.  They never referenced these numbers again, which made them kind of pointless.  We didn't take a picture of the maps ahead of time, which would have been smart.  So, we used a combination of what poor signage we could find and google maps to determine the route.  It ended up working out, but there was a route we almost took that would have taken us much longer.

The beginning of the hike brought us up to the Urach Waterfall, which had multiple layers and was a bit different than what we were used to.  I was experimenting with different settings on the camera, so the pictures might look a bit unusual.

The hike continued up and around the side of the mountain, before descending to a very flat area, also meant for biking.  We continued along that path until the next waterfall, Gutersteiner.

We got back just in time for sunset.  Unfortunately, while the sky above us was cloudless, the area near the sun had just enough clouds to block the sunlight from streaming in.  Today, we leave for our last location in Germany and the last location of castles on this trip.
