Ireland 8: A pig walk and a hike in the Burren with horses

We had an appointment at noon at the Burren Nature Sanctuary, which was about a three minute drive from our bed and breakfast.  They are closed on the weekdays, so we had the whole place to ourselves.  The appointment was for a "Pig Fairy Walk."  We took out a pig on a leash, for a short guided walk through a forest trail.  We would stop at trees that had little fairy doors on them.  I forgot to take pictures of these, as I was focused on the pig, and when we came back around to the trail later, I just plain forgot.

Back at the farm, a baby pig was brought out for Miles to pet.

Afterwards we were let loose on our own.  We went through a small greenhouse and followed a path with wildflowers.

We ate a picnic near the farm animals, the consisted of sandwiches and mini cupcakes.  We walked past the animals one last time and then drove to Slieve Carran for a hike.  There was a small parking lot between two sets of mountains.  The trail was a loop on both the north and south side of the lot.  The north had the nicest views.  We saw one of the red insects that we had seen the day before, and I stopped for pictures.

The south side had a less rocky path.  Halfway through, Miles asked me to hurry over to him, as he had spotted a horse.  We walked a few feet off the trail and were greeted by the two horses in an open field.  I don't know if the horses were wild or just knew to go back home at the end of the day.  One of them walked nearly right up to us, and appeared friendly.  At one point, they had some excited play with each other.

I designated the following day and as rest and health day.  My only time out was to walk ten minutes to the nearby castle.  The town is super cute, with colorful shops lining it.

These 5 nearly identical houses looked strange.

The castle had a path around the outside, but there was nothing to see.  The inside had a doorway to a craft shop.  I stayed outside and then walked back to town.
